The Church Staff
Senior Pastor - Joe Reed
Pastor Joseph Reed hails from La Plata, Maryland
and graduated from La Plata Senior High School in 1980; he enlisted
into the U.S. Marine Corps and served 23 years, retiring in Oct
2003 at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Joe came to know the Lord on the island of Cuba in 1981 where he
was discipled by a Staff Sergeant. While stationed in Yuma, Arizona,
he met a Navy Chaplain who was instrumental in helping him understand
the will of God. And while attending a Promise Keepers Men's Conference
in Los Angeles, California, Joe heard God calling him into the preaching
ministry. His initial sermon was conducted at the Yuma base chapel.
Joe was baptized at Woodbridge Christian Church, Woodbridge, Virginia,
where he was ordained as a deacon and served in both the Men and
Youth Ministries. He partners with e-3 Ministry Partners (formerly
Global Missions Fellowship) and began world-wide, short-term missionary,
evangelism and church planting in Venezuela, Russia, Uganda, Romania,
Peru and Ecuador.
In 2001, Pastor Reed was licensed to preach by Little Union Baptist
Church and served as an Associate Minister in charge of Christian
Education Department and Jail and Prison Ministry. Additionally
he made his walk to Emmaus in the Fredericksburg Emmaus community
and is a past Emmaus Board of Directors' member. He currently serves
as a spiritual director to the local Emmaus Community.
Joe has graduated with a Bachelor of Ministry, pastoral studies
concentration from Virginia Baptist College Fredericksburg in May
2008 and attends Seminary at Liberty University Theological Seminary
and Graduate School, Lynchburg, Virginia, in pursuit of a Masters
of Divinity (Evangelism and Church Planting) concentration.
Ordained in July 2008, Pastor Reed comes to us from Wheat and Tares
Ministries, Woodbridge, as their Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship.
First Christian Church, Fredericksburg, VA, called Pastor Reed to
serve as its Senior Pastor commencing in January 2009.
Pastor Reed is married to Kimberly Bonner of Dayton, Ohio. Joe
and Kim have two children: Marcus, a 2008 Brooke Point graduate,
and Christina, an active duty Army soldier currently deployed (2nd
tour) in Iraq, as well as one grand-daughter, Hope. |
Associate Pastor - Gary Staddan
Gary Staddan was born in El Paso , Texas . He Graduated from Austin High School in May 1965. Gary attended University of Texas - El Paso from September 1965 to December 1966.
In 1967 Gary felt the calling to move to Brisbane , Queensland , Australia where he attended Kenmore Christian College from 1967-1970 earning his Certificate. While at Kenmore he met and courted Judy Roberts. Gary and Judy were married in January 1970.
Gary and Judy were called to the Pastorate of Arana Hills Church of Christ in Brisbane while Gary finished his studies at the University of Queensland earning his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1973.
After returning to the U.S. , Gary and Judy served at First Christian Church in Alamogordo , NM , and First Christian Church in Leesville , LA.
Gary has shepherded the flock here at First Christian Church of Fredericksburg since November 1992.
Gary and Judy have two daughters, Jennifer and Caralyn and 3 grandsons, Zhane, Dylan and Clayton..
Gary serves as a spiritual director to the local Emmaus Community. |

Church
Secretary - Jennifer Davidson
Jennifer came to First Christian
Church in April, 2006, after having served as an Administrative
Assistant at Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC for numerous years.
Originally from Thomasville, NC, Jennifer graduated from Gardner
Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC in 1999 with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Religious Education.
Jennifer is a member of Bethel Baptist Church where her husband,
Jim, is the Sr. Pastor. Jennifer and Jim recently became the proud
parents of Bella Grace, born on November 15, 2008 and their four-legged
child is Maggie, their three year old English Setter! A favorite
pastime of theirs is to travel and they are most enthusiastic about
mission work that God has allowed them to do in various third world
countries! Jennifer has worked in different villages doing things
such as Vacation Bible School and leading the worship part of revival
services in Belize, Jamaica and Trinidad. She also spent time Bolivia,
South America, where she trained Youth Ministers on how to better
reach teenagers and influence their lives with the Gospel of Chrsit.
In addition to work overseas, she has traveled the eastern part
of the United States, participating in weekend mission trips and
leading in worship services from Vermont to Mississippi.
Jennifer's favorite scripture is Job 23:10: "For He knows
the way that I take and when He has tried me, I shall come forth
as gold."

Youth
Leader - Steve Johnson
Steve is from Centreville, Virginia.
He met and married Virginia Johnson in college and moved to Fredericksburg,
her hometown. As the son of a Marine, Steve lived in a different
town every couple of years, so he's delighted that his wife and
their children were born not just in the same town, but the same
hospital!
Steve attended William and Mary College in Williamsburg. Since then,
he has been a newspaper reporter, typesetter, full-time dad, magazine
editor, database contributor, and teacher. He has worked with young
people through library, school and church since he was a young person
himself. He currently teaches science, history and drama at St.
Michael the Archangel High School.
Steve has two children, Autumn, 17, and Benedict, 10. |

Music
Director - Lyuda Posey
Lyuda Posey came to First Christian
in the summer of 2008 from King George, VA, where she had served
as a pianist and organist since 1999. She has a young daughter,
Dena.
She looks forward to establishing her role as our Music Director
with more than 14 years of experience as a music teacher, choir
director, and accordionist.
She has received diplomas from a music college in Russia and the
Sumy State Institute of Education, Ukraine. She has also been a
music or piano teacher, choir director or orchestral member of Secondary
School #31, Kharkov, Ukraine; Music Studio for Children in the Palace
of Culture, Kharkov, Ukraine; Music School for children, Russia; and
the Orchestra of Folk Instruments in the Committee for Television
and Radio.
One of Lyuda's dreams is to restart and expand a Children's Choir
at First Christian.
